Ecological assessment of different electrokinetic remediation strategies: a pilot scale study

نویسندگان

چکیده

The electrokinetic remediation method can function as a primary or secondary technology and be applied in conjunction with other physical biological methods, such soil washing, phytoremediation, bioremediation. Environmental impacts arising from the process determined using life cycle assessment analysis (LCA) tools. This study compared conventional strategy two hybrid strategies: electrokinetic-phytoremediation (EKR-Phyto) electrokinetic-bioremediation (EKR-Bio). environmental performance of three strategies is then tested through LCA analysis. database used was Ecoinvent, freeware software during inventory stage OpenLCA. impact Recipe I (2016) midpoints, Available Water Remaining (AWARE) midpoint, Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC) midpoint (2003), UNEP Society Toxicology (USEtox) cumulative energy demand midpoint. significance results not obtained for GWP parameter but freshwater eutrophication parameter. Among strategies, EKR-Phyto showed highest lowest land change. Substitution chemical fertilizers into natural an opportunity sustainability. ecological terms GWP, sum energy, Acidification Potential (AP), Photochemical Ozone Creation (POCP).

Electrokinetic Remediation of Mercury-contaminated Soils

A series of batch tests were conducted to investigate the relative desorption potential of mercury from kaolin and glacial till soils under the effect of three extractant agents, namely, KI, NaEDTA and NaCl (all of them with a concentration of 0.1 M). These tests were conducted under different pH conditions (within a pH range between 2 and 12). Also batch tests using deionized water were perfor...
